What the feck is going on here now?
No awards for woodworking here
A nibble here, a nibble there, by'eck that will do
Bets in! When I cut the masking tape on bow and stern, will all this tensioned balsa just buckle and splinter?
... hull covering...? Stocks are a bit hit or miss
Action plan: make two of these (one for each foot)
That will be a Catamaran
Atlantic Ahoy! 😂
Getting close to closing the hull.
Stanley blade finally got me. Blood splodges on the hull 😔
50gram tub of superglue is almost gone.
All the 6.5mm balsa has now gone too.
So close on the bow
Keel, rudder & skeg
Somewhere a bit like that...
Also doubles as the stand
What the Feck is that !!! ???

I know. It is an ugly duckling at the moment.
Just wait for the sand paper!
Three layers of 10mm balsa, I should be able to find a keel, skeg and rudder in there somewhere
What bar steward said a boat has to have two sides? Easy side for right handed operations is nearly complete.
Hello @DiscoveryYachts how do my lines look?
My first ever attempt at building something like this...
Follow the bread above for full process thus far.
Matthew
My eyes are full of balsa wood dust!
Chain locker and swim platform
Got a bit frantic when I superglued my fingers inside the chain locker!!!
How the freck do I do the floor? ...
1. Make space for hand
2. Shave flat the fore aft formers
3. Get rough measurements of floor forward and centre
4. Measure out a full Crunchy Nutter (me) template with side flappy bits.
(What are the side flappy bits for?)
5. Give yourself some over engineered making tap pull out tabs.
(Usefully discovered after first attempt at fitting - five minutes ago)
6. Tape to your centre line
Oh !?!? Ed Balls! Front is too long... Trim
Guess 2 to 3 mm
Um this might actually work
Spodger down (technical term from work - using stiff metal thingy to work into a corner) the Crunchy Nutter Flappy bits into the hull shape
Holy Moley that seems to be rather good!
On the down side I just took a big slurp of frigging cold tea!
8. Trim the flappy bits along the bendy Spodged line
9. Ark Weld the floor into place
10. Call the Fire Brigade
11. Rebuild garage
😂
Well. There is no Sun ⛅ and garage is frigging cold!
Change of plan
Hat and body warmer
9. Cut slightly oversize and sand to perfect shape
10. Amputate thumb with Stanley blade
11. When sanding, always remember to place father's slippers in perfect position for a good laugh later
12. Fitting - I think that is good enough
Dingy garage
Forward V Berth - Double Bed - 8ft by 5ft
Therefore if I stick with the scale one cm to a foot
The boat is length overall 78.5 cm.
Forward V Berth height 7cm
Central door height is 9 cm
I am such a Donkey Brain !!!
I used the hull formers to dictate where the floor could be but...
The formers are curved like a banana
No sanity in having wonky floors!
Distraction / Procrastination
The Deck
Really annoying when the edge of the sand paper catches the grain and bite out a unsightly chunk
Deck Saloon
Dig some holes, insert posts
Making my head hurt, this puzzle is!
Well hello there Yoda
Cabin top
Trying to work out the right angles (maybe a pun in there)
Over engineered?
Stupid Ruddy tiny woodwork with a Stanley blade
Cabin roof almost ready to glue
Getting there slowly
A late addition this evening - boat stand - heavy winds (light breeze) caused some hull damage falling off of the work bench. Lightning fast reaction = not so bad, easy sand out.
Hello @Oyster_Yachts how do my lines look to you?
First attempt at building one of these...
First attempt at a PV Solar Panel
and Windscreen installed
By the way, Shout out and say Hello if you are following this boat build thread.
Cabin Roof nearly there
Cabin Roof is detachable - whole idea is to open the boat up in layers
Attempt #1. - Sliding deck sun roof
Verdict = Na! Not Quite good enough!
Attempt #2. - Retractable Sun Deck Roof
Sun Deck
I so need a mini gun and rocket launchers!
Seats
Mind twizzler till 3am last night.
How the feck do you make stairs for a 78.5cm (78.5ft) yacht out of balsa?
Lots of monotonous cutting.
KISS. Use Aluminium instead.
Cheers Budweiser!
Dam that is fiddly!!!!!
3 done, 11 to go

This is not easy with fat stumpy fingers!!!
More Aluminium required.....
Glug Glug Glug
Oops. I had that cup since I was 12 years old. (41)
And it was a brand fresh new cup of tea !!!!!!!!!
And the wind dumped my drawing in the pond
This cup I have owned since 25th.12.1999
How many COVID-19 stay at home days will it survive?
