HELP ME REDISCOVER A BOOK
I am trying to remember the title and author of a book I read when I was young. It is set in colonial India, and involves two (or three) children and an orphaned tiger.
There's a girl who's English, and a lad who's local. I think they rescue a cub. It wears a necklace/collar for a long time. For some reason or other they release it back into the jungle where it struggles to look after itself.
Something happens, the kids get lost, and one of them has lost their sight, or never had it. He ends up lost in the jungle, and a tiger shows up and leads him home.
When he gets home, he pets the tiger to say thank you, and realises it doesn't have the bald patch from the collar, and that he was miraculously saved by a wild tiger.
Them's the bones. I feel like it was called Tiger Morning or something? And it's probably very old and horribly of its time. I just want to know what it is and that I didn't imagine it. Help, anyone?
Nope, wait. I think I'm mixing the title up with Seal Morning.
Anyway, any thoughts, ideas, leads would be very welcome. Or please just share this thread.
