[12 Years and Waiting]
1/25
RCB is one of the most famous teams of the tournament with fans and followers all over the world. Most IPL fans you meet they have some soft corner for RCB and yet after 12 years RCB is still waiting to win their first ever IPL 🏆
2/25
It's not like they haven't tried but the moment they come close to winning it, it slips away further more.Back in 2008 RCB under Dravid was one of the highly anticipated teams due to the Owners and the reputation of players like Dravid Kallis Kumble Boucher Zaheer etc.
3/25
Unfortunately the tournament Opener which took IPL to its greatest heights with McCullum's blistering 158 also gave RCB one of the worst starts, the tournament went abysmal for them Dravid was removed and KP was named as the Captain.
4/25
Under KP and Kumble RCB played the Final in 2009 became Runner-up, a SF in 2010 finishing 3rd.2011 RCB gave reigns to Vettori, with Gayle AB Kohli in the side RCB again played the Finals became Runner-up after losing to CSK, in 2012 they dropped further down to 5th place.
5/25
2008: 4W 10L 7th

2009: 8W 6L Runners-up (Kumble 21Wkts)

2010: 7W 7L Semis (Kallis 572)

2011: 9W 4L Runners-up ( Gayle 606 Kohli 557 Aravind 21 Wkts)

2012: 8W 7L 5th ( Gayle 733)

In 2013 young Virat Kohli was given the full time charge of RCB
6/25
2013: 9W 7L 5th ( Gayle 708 Kohli 634 AB 360 Vinay Kumar 23W)

2014: 5W 9L 7th (AB 397 Aaron 16W)

2015: 7W 5L Eliminator(AB 513 Kohli 505 Gayle 491 Chahal 23W Starc 20W)

2016: 8W 6L Runners-up(Kohli 973 AB 687 Rahul 397 Chahal 21W)

Things really went downhill after 2016
7/25
2017 3W 10L 8th

2018 6W 8L 6th(Kohli 530 AB 480 Chahal 20W)

2019 5W 8L 8th(Kohli 464 AB 442 Chahal 18W)

RCB has lost a lot of games recently and they've received a lot of flak for that Poor onfield tactics, auction strategy, bowling but most importantly Kohli's leadership
8/25
The Captain:
Kohli got captaincy in 2013 he was young and dynamic and was already a superstar in International Cricket,so RCB felt who better to lead them than Virat Kohli
As Captain of RCB
Virat 110 matches
49W 55L Win% 47
Out of this 55L, 24L have come in last 3 years.
9/25
He did decently well in his first 4 years of IPL as Captain, with the bat he has always lead the Team but as a Captain recent years have been really painful for the team.2017 injuries costed them a lot, 2018 poor bowling performance,2019 total Shiteshow lost first 6 games
10/25
In Internationals the selectors pick best available players from domestics who are"selected"based on performance, in case of IPL that's not an option coz you have to bid for options either A or B and if both are not available,C. It works best when you know what you want.
11/25
But despite playing for over 12 years including 7 years as Captain, him and RCB have struggled to build a strong fortress unit that can atleast win 5-6 if not all 7 home games,a Pace unit with death bowlers, a solid core, 5-6-7 to accelerate and a winning combination.
12/25
Is it the time to move on? NO.
A.He does not have a proper team so he can't do much
B.The team does not have a proper replacement for him to pass over the leadership so they can't do much either

And that's where the real and biggest problems for RCB are, it's Business end
13/25
The Business End:
IPL in the end is a business and if you don't operate it like one it does not work with 100% efficiency and RCB has made big blunders on that front.Poor auction strategies, poor analytics, weak game plans and the biggest blunder Releasing Investment.
14/25
The release of KL Rahul was the biggest possible blunder they did back in 2018. With KL in the team they could've easily moved on to him in about a year or 2 allowing AB Kohli to play as freely as possible, but now they have nobody to go to or to groom as the next Captain.
15/25
See it's a future based event not a 1 year affair where u plan for this year and then move on to the next auctions with totally different strategy,u plan for years in advance even when ur not sure about the outcomes, for eg. we'll move from Kohli to Kl to Padikkal in 10yrs.
16/25
And that's where RCB lags behind, the major players in the league for eg. CSK MI KKR
CSK follows the strategy of a strong core and repetition, they barely change playing 11s and auction strategy is focused on building a side around their home ground Chepauk their Fortress.
17/25
MI:they have the best engine room in the tournament, best scouts, best development program and the Owners take INTEREST, so the Captain gets best possible options not just now but in future as well,eg Bumrah Hardik etc. they were all spotted early and MI invested in them.
18/25
KKR: they changed their approach in 2011, the approach focused on limited bench numbers, repetition and most importantly they started investing in young players, even u19 players.

Common points between all 3 of them "REPETITION" tinker the 11 only when absolutely necessary.
19/25
They have solid 5-6-7, better death bowlers, proper all rounders and they play to their strengths, the Captain knows what resources he has because that repetition helps in understanding the players better, he knows their strength, weakness, ability to perform under pressure.
20/25
Compare it to RCB in the last 8 years the only constant they have is AB Kohli Chahal. Starc doesn't play anymore, Gayle KL they released. Last 3 years they've just bought players irrespective of their needs and released them after a season or 2.
21/25
They barely follow repetition the Captain gets all the blame, but even he can't do much as the resources bought are not well thought of. What RCB can and should learn from above 3 is Repetition,Team building,Scouting, Development and most importantly Owners involvement.
22/25
Team building: Build a team focused to Chinnaswamy you can afford to lose 3-4 away but not at home it should be your fortress.
Repetition: Repeat the players over and over, if someone is bowling at death give him 5-6 games in that role to test out all possible outcomes.
23/25
Scouting and Development:Scout as much as possible, spot youngsters invest in them early and groom them like MI,u don't need them now but they'll win you games 3-5 yrs from now.
Owners:Without you nothing is possible, the team reflects your vision and approach, get INVOLVED.
24/25
In short,RCB needs a strong structured setup like above 3, a solid Front End and a robust Back End.The Captain Coach operate at the front where they concentrate only on Cricket, everything else managed by the Back End to make sure operations at Front End run smoothly.
25/25
Build a strong structure and things will fall in place automatically even results.Initial steps look promising and I hope nd pray that they lead to a better future for RCB and it's fans🏏✌🏽
