(4/27/11 Violent tornado thread) The super outbreak of 2011 is one of the most, if not the most prolific tornado outbreak in recorded history, having 216 tornadoes on the day of, 15 of those being EF4+.
The first Violent tornado of the day, the Philadelphia MS EF5, is argued to be on the top of Higher End EF5s, doing 2 feet of ground scouring in less than 5 seconds. (Given storm motion and Strength) Definitely an impressive tornado.
The next violent tornado happened near the small town of Cullman Alabama, this tornado touched down South West of Cullman and went directly through downtown at EF3 strength. The tornado later hit an impressive EF4 strength near the small town of Arab Alabama.
(1)The next tornado, was a very long tracked EF5 that hit numerous towns such as Hackleburg AL, Phil Campbell AL, Trinity AL, etc. This tornado is known for the longest track of EF5 damage swath to a tornado.
(2)The tornado also took out a radar that belonged to a News Station. The tornado itself is what caused all over Northern AL to be without power for the rest of the day. It nearly hit a Power Plant and state prison as well.
(3) certainly a very historic tornado that won't ever be forgotten.
Another Violent tornado, the Cordova AL EF4 was a very long tracked, while also wide tornado. This tornado hit numerous towns in it's path causing widespread destruction. Although one of the more forgotten ones, still an interesting monster.
(1)The next violent tornado would be the Smithville Mississippi tornado. Known as the most devastating EF5 tornado. Reaching violent strength in about a few seconds after touching down.
(2) The tornado quickly intensified to EF5 strength before tearing straight through the small town of Smithville Mississippi. By far the gnarliest of the day, sweeping away and in some case crack slabs. With extreme debris granulation and debarking.
(3) This tornado also through a vehicle straight over the water tower to the other side of town, crumpling it up into a ball. Another vehicle, a pickup truck was never found, believed to have been ripped apart.
(4) realized I made an error, Threw* not through.
The next violent tornado to touch down would be the Pisgah/Flat Rock Alabama EF4. This EF4 was spawned by the Cullman Supercell. This tornado flattened numerous homes and even at one point went over a mountain maintaining EF4 strength. An Impressive tornado indeed.
(1)Next violent tornado (and this one is a long one) The Tuscaloosa AL HE EF4. This tornado struck the city of Tuscaloosa head on during the afternoon hours. Possibly the most historic one of this outbreak.
(2) This tornado swept away numerous structures, debarked trees, mangled vehicles way beyond recognition, and crippled the cities infrastructure. The tornado itself is recognized by most due to the ABC 33/40 live tower cams right when it was over town.
(3) A survey team noted EF5 damage to an apartment complex outside of Tuscaloosa but it was deemed inconclusive and rated HE EF4 of 190MPH. Still an insanely violent tornado.
(4) This tornado went on to hit the Northern Birmingham metroplex later on. Striking the northern Metroplex at again, HE EF4 strength, destroying numerous buildings in the process. The tornado at this point was simply a black mass due to the amount of debris it lofted.
(5) A very historic tornado that will forever be remembered on this dark day. Hopefully we never have a repeat of it.
Next violent tornado is the Stevenson EF4. This EF4 flattened numerous homes in the Stevenson and Bridgeport Communities. Even continuing it's destruction into Tennessee. Why don't I have more? Huntsville radar went down literally 5 minutes after this tornado touched down.
(1)Next violent tornado was the Enterprise Mississippi EF4. This EF4 had some pretty impressive amounts of debarking, and flattened numerous well structured homes. It hit the south side of Enterprise Mississippi at EF4 strength.
Another tornado the Rainsville Alabama EF5. This one is impressive due to the fact it striped a bus from it's chassis, and mangled the frame. It also swept away numerous structures, including what I believed was a church.
Next violent tornado to reach the earth of the Clay Alabama EF4. Doing it's most intense damage in Wellington although maintaining HE EF3 damage for a good chunk of it's life. It flattened numerous homes, as well as throwing vehicles.
The next violent tornado, the Chilhowee lake TN EF4, mowed down and debarked thousands of trees and went over atleast 2 mountains while maintaining EF4 strength. A large TVA tower was pulled from it's anchors and destroyed.
(1)Next tornado is the Ringgold GA EF4. This tornado leveled numerous homes and destroyed vehicles. The tornado itself had a multiple vortex but non condensated structure for a good chunk of it's life. The tornado itself hit HE EF4 status around the community of Apison TN.
(2) The tornado also hit southern Cleveland TN at LE EF4 strength (This city was also hit again just 2 weeks ago)
The next EF4 to touch down would be the Pikeville TN HE EF4. This tornado swept away numerous homes, mangled vehicles, and debarked trees.
The final and last EF4 of the day was a tornado that crossed Lake Martin Alabama, destroying a few homes surrounding the lake at max intensity.
