We reach 1 million cases of COVID today in the US. For a full month: >20,000 new cases every single day. A sad failure of US leadership.

Meanwhile many countries have crushed the curve. Hong Kong has second straight day of zero cases. @jburnmurdoch @klustout @karina_tsui
Nothing we do is going to give us back the time or lives lost. But it should forever imprint in our memory that good governance matters.

Things needed to do to prevent further loss of life.

1. End Sycophancy. Those of you in advisory roles: tell leaders when they are wrong
3. Do not minimize or dismiss COVID as similar to severe flu. @jburnmurdoch @FinancialTimes shows that in almost every country, excess deaths in the last 2 months are astonishingly higher than normal. They are way off the charts. @choo_ek @ASlavitt @sangerkatz @NPRmelissablock
