What is love? Bell Hooks defines love in her book All About Love as "a combination of care, commitment, knowledge, responsibility, respect and trust."

Ultimately bell hooks in her book All About Love teaches us that love is more than a feeling but "action" "decision" "a promise." This teaches us that love is not something you enter into thoughtlessly but it is a conscious decision to love.

To know love we must unlearn patriarchy and misogyny, we need to learn about justice,equality,and kindness. Bell hooks puts it eloquently when she says "to know love we must surrender our attachment to sexist thinking in whatever form it takes in our lives."

Love does not thrive on a foundation of patriarchy, misogyny and if it is not built on equality. bell hooks puts it to us that "love will not prevail if either male or female wants to maintain control."

bell hooks teaches us that we need to unlearn and learn, heal our trauma or make peace with it and in this way we will be able to love in a healthy manner.

Love is beautiful if it is nurtured and effort is put in. May we learn or attempt to love ourselves, love the close people we've chosen in our lives fully. May we never give up on love whether it is self love , platonic and romantic love.
