I wanna just say, again, thst Drs are not superheroes. As much as the pic in frame 1 was depicted to show appreciation for what many Drs across the world are doing, Drs are still not superheroes. https://twitter.com/tobidadeviant/status/1254474562244354048
And this comes from a guy who regularly aears superman adn Black Panther scrubs (I also happen to have spiderman scrubs lying somewhere but will never be seen in them)
From a personal perspective, I do that as a form of self motivation, and that helps carry me through a whole lot of what I do. It does get quite heavy sometimes.
For this reason I get why there is a picture of superheroes bowing down to Drs in the current Covid19 pandemic. It serves as to motivate and appreciate the many Drs, nurses, and others working closely with patients infected with this.
That part I appreciate, but not for a second should anyone believe that it takes a photo and a few claps to be appreciative of this.
At the end of this pandemic, there will be health workers who have died because of covid19, there will be those who have been infected and possibly suffering long term effects of the infection.
Many may be exhausted, emotionally depleted, and mentally exhausted. There may be individuals who will be torn by the effects of this that they're not the same people they were before the pandemic.
There's all this and more at play, the human side of this whole thing, the side we are all subject to and there are no super powers to shield us from that.
So no, health care workers are not superheroes. It may be that we are a group of people who chose to be carers of other people's health, but none of us made the choice at a gamble with their own life.
We definitely do appreciate the appreciation, but have you ever thought what would happen to@my family if I as an individual was to die from this virus?Or what happens if I come out the other end unable to continue doing what I've been doing because of the effects of the pandemic?
It's scary, and it's a tough thing to do. But we do it because we know there's no one else to do it if we don't. Because we have a duty to serve. What duty then is due to us after all this I ask...
