A thread on urban driving and the "new normal": we need to reevaluate how we drive in towns and cities... We need to cut driving speeds and respect pedestrians. Cars need to share the roads, for a long time to come 1/4
Seems to me there is a noticeable, if incremental, increase in car driving now. But so too has walking, jogging and cycling, particularly be families, as the lockdown forces more people onto the streets for essential exercise (and good mental health)... 2/4
But pedestrians, joggers and people with dogs still need to socially-distance on pavements, and this means walking or running on the roads, or stepping into the road... 3/4
So motorists and Scotland's councils need to think really hard about a "new normal" on urban streets as #coronavirus crisis continues = really sticking to 20mph speed limits; sharing road space and acting in the community's interests, not just their own... Please 4/4
