Political journalists have a massive tendency toward self-congratulation and self-importance. The back slapping about bravery and ‘truth to power’ and their vital importance in the running of our state. How about we have some non shite ones. Is it too much to ask?
Either the job is a serious one or it isn’t.
Note @adamboultonSKY’s defences of the journalists covering the crisis this last month. Positively bristles at the idea that they’re bedshitting hazards.
It’s possible that between 11:00 when TND tweeted and when I screenshot, they added clarity. Though that wouldn’t justify the positive assertion.
Then it looks like Morgan, 35 mins later, read TND, shared the link without reading and added ‘Breaking’ like he’d actually done work
Then Adam Boulton thought ‘Morgan is good enough for me, no need to investigate’ and decided to share it. So that’s 8m people exposed to bullshit undermining government trust which took 5 seconds of reading the same sodding link they posted.
They’re paid a fortune.
And yeah, anyone can make an error and I’m spaffing off over one little incident. But it’s so far from isolated. They’re attention whores and we’d actually be better without them.
