i'm all for accountability but i don't think many of us, despite having a solid understanding of grooming, know how tough it is to get victims to accept they were preyed upon and manipulated. that process can take years
it boils down to complicating and deepening our perception of what victimhood looks like. not everyone is going to accept that they've been violated. some will resist it aggressively while others might be too ashamed to confront reality. we need to be accommodating
twitter has been an amazing forum for us to discuss these issues. but i've realized that many of us have had to handle the emotional and psychological trauma from childhood rape and sexual assault by ourselves
in many cases, we've had to process all of these things without any help from parental figures or abusers. it's been us, twitter and if we're lucky, some of our friends. how awful is that?
