Over the years in my Christian journey I've witnessed majority of Christians depicting behavior that is contrary to the character of Christ and all that he expects from us as his disciples.
The more I become acquainted with God's word is the more I'm disgruntled and grieved at how the Christian community defiantly appropriates biblical conduct and hardly does it exhibit the character of Christ.
if you're a Christian reading this, I presume you've had multiple instances whereby you came across a non believer grumbling about how they've witnessed some Christians indulging in worldly behavior ; Sleeping around, Alcoholism, Clubbing and being rude, mean, religious etc
It has dawned on me that there's a huge difference between a committed follower of Christ and an individual who is just a 'fan'.
The follower is committed to reflecting the character of Christ, He exhibits love, patience, compassion, gentleness, humility, and godliness(Read Galatians 5:22-23). How many of us can confidently say we've been reflecting these in our daily lives?
Let me be most frank with you, I have been Christian for a couple years and in my early years as a Christian there are instances I indulged in worldly activities, I smoked weed, drank, and cussed around.
People around me knew I'm a 'church guy' but the most devastating thing was when I attempted to win someone over to Christ there'd bluntly tell me "Why should I be a Christian when you do the very things I do? What's the difference?
"

I reflected upon these things in 2016, henceforth I decided to be a disciple of Christ and not a fan. The disciple has utmost loyalty to his master and reflects his character. The fan believes, supports and loves the idea of Jesus, theoretically and not practically.
I stopped being a fan and began being a disciple.
So what's the kind of Christian I refuse to be?
One who is a Christian on a Sunday and then Monday to Friday a heathen.(see John 14:21)
One who professes to love Jesus but hardly lives in a manner that reflects His character. John 13:35, John 8:31

One who proclaims to be a follower of Jesus but doesn't walk in love (see 1 John 4:7-8).
One who tells others to repent but similarly acts and thinks like the world (see Matthew 7:4-5).

One who prays to God when things are hard and forget about him when life is all sunshine and rainbows.
One who he reads his Bible on Sundays and forget about it on weekdays. One who knows the scriptures but doesn't act on them (see James 1:22-23).

One who knows he has authority to heal the sick, raise the dead, and cast out demons but doesn't live in that reality(see Mark 16:17-18) & (1 Corinthians 4:20).
