Continuing my pursuit to burst the claims by Subramanian Swamy, I would like to present a new thread which will expose Swamy's claims on how he single handedly opened Kailash Mansarovar route in 1981

I will 1st explain abt his claims and then I will try to dismantle those claims

He wrote an article in Hindu newspaper to claim how he played an instrumental role in Indo-China relationships, how he was handpicked by Morarji Desai in 1977 to negotiate wid China.
He arranged a visit to China for then External Affairs Min Vajpayee in 79

In 1981, Swamy Visited then Chinese President Deng Xiaoping, he negotiated with Chinese Minister to open the Kailash Mansarovar route, which China agreed and Swamy himself led the 1st group of 20 Pilgrims in 1981 and after that Indian pilgrims have visited Kailash in batches

Swamy wrote on his Facebook page & also uploaded a small clip him speaking a sentence in Chinese.

He claims that he learnt Mandarin in only three months... Wow

That itself should be some kind of Guinness Record to master a difficult language in mere three months

Swamy has repeated above story in N number of times in TV & YouTube interviews, recently 10 days back he repeated the story in his YouTube Live which is called 'Gyan Ganga'
You will also find few articles written by him on this topic and thousands of tweets from VHS members.

Now I will slowly try to dismantle above claims
Firstly, the only man who said that Swamy should get credit for Kailash reopening is Subramanian Swamy himself. No one from Janta Party, BJP or Congress ever gave any credit to Swamy
I have used three sources to Dismantle his claims

Source 1
Rup Narayan Das who is associated with Institute for Defence Studies & Analysis, Delhi. He is a expert on India-China matters

He explained how Vajpayee played pivotal role

He clearly writes that after Atal Bihari Vajpayee was appointed as External Affairs Minister in 1977 in Morarji Cabinet, Vajpayee started his outreach to China on various issues
In his visit to China in 79, Vajpayee discussed with Deng Xiaoping about opening of Kailash Mansarovar

Book- Problems of Communism which was 1st published in 1989, clearly writes how Vajpayee resolved the issues with China and he reopened Kailash Mansarovar route for Indian Pilgrims.
Similar to Source 1,there is no mention about Subramanian Swamy anywhere in this book.

On Page 36, they have described in detail how Vajpayee started his outreach to China from 1977 and affer his visit to China in 1979,Vajpayee was successful to reopen Kailash Mansarovar for Indian Pilgrims. Described in detail
Both Source 1&2 hasn't mentioned Swamy anywhere

Most important Character in this thread, I present you well known Kannada Novelist Shri S.L.Bhyrappa.

S.L.Bhyrappa was also avid traveller as described in above TOI article, Bhyrappa was part of the 2nd batch which went to Kailas Mansarovar in 1981
In his autobiography, Bhitti, published in 1996 & has 11 reprints till 2018.
He writes abt Swamy wat he saw in 1981 on his pilgrimage

On his pilgrimage he learnt about a MP Subramanian Swamy who was leading the 1st batch just returned to Delhi from Kailash Yatra, talking to press he described how beautiful it was to visit Kailash.
After interview to Media, some newspapers gave credit to Swamy for Kailash Yatra

He writes that newspaper created perception of Swamy being hero of Kailash. When his 2nd batch resumed their march, they met few guys who were part of 1st batch, but Bhyrappa asked him, that 1st batch just returned to Delhi we saw that Swamy was talking to Media.
Shocking

One of the 1st batch member described Swamy as 'Badmash' who started complaining abt chest pain after walking for two days.
He tried to talking to Chinese Officials but he couldn't understand their language
He arranged a Jeep by paying extra dollars, visited Kailash alone

After returning to camp, he insisted Chinese Officials to take him to India border, after hard negotiations he forced Indian Military to send a Helicopter to take him back, leaving all other batch members behind

Bhyrappa said Indira wanted to keep troublemaker on her side

When the fellow batch member said, Swamy couldn't understand the Mandarin with Chinese Officials, check the pic

So when Swamy visited Deng Xiaoping in 1981, you can clearly see a translator in the background, if he was Mandarin expert then what was the need for the translator

So coming to conclusion, Source 1 & 2 said it was Vajpayee's efforts which reopened the pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar.
S.L.Bhyrappa described Swamy as a deceiver who fabricated facts to glorify himself in front of the media to earn media footage to hijack credit for Kailash.

On the above note, you can clearly see there is no external source which gives the credit to Subramanian Swamy, all the govts saw Swamy as a troublemaker & kept him away from governance or diplomacy
If he can learn Mandarin in 3 months then he should be speaking fluent Sanskrit
