Before i get to my MF DOOM top tracks later this week, i’m gonna do a simpler thread just talking about my favorite rappers, my fav and least fav album and songs from each one of them.
Honorable Mentions:
2Pac
Eminem
Common
Travis Scott
A$AP Rocky
Wu Tang Clan (as a group and maybe solo, still need to listen to more solo stuff)
JPEGMAFIA
Madlib and anyone, and i know he’s the producer but i love collab projects with him.
Tyler, The Creator
Isaiah Rashad
Big K.R.I.T - He got a contagious energy, and even on his worst moments he’s still good, very consistent, also a great lyricist.
Fav Project: 4Eva Is A Mighty Long Time (10/10)
Least Fav: KRIT IZ HERE (6/10)
Fav Track: Keep The Devil Off/Another Naive...
Least Fav: Blue
Chance is a very special one because he was the first rapper i listened to, he got me into rap, before i just knew popular rap songs.
Fav Project: Acid Rap (8.5/10)/ I Might Need Security (9/10)
Least Fav Project: TBD (4/10)
Fav Track: Prom Night
Worst Track: Slide Around
J.I.D - Even tho he only has 2 official albums out, he’s shown some great skills flows wise and been ok lyrically. There isn’t a song from the man i hate.
Fav Project: DiCaprio 2 (8/10)
Least Fav: The Never Story (6.5/10)
Fav Track: Workin Out/Off Da Zoinkys
Least Fav: None
Denzel Curry - The man is pure energy. His style captivated me even on some of the tracks i think is his worst ones. Been meh lyrically, some bad bars definitely.
Fav Project: Ta13OO (8/10)
Least Fav: Nostalgic 64 (5/10)
Fav Track: SUMO/ ULT
Least Fav: SUPER SAYAN SUPERMAN
Kanye West - The most interesting figure in the industry. From his more experimental moments to his classic College series chopped up sample production, there’s always something to like. Kanye’s creativity always brings something new every time he comeback with an album.
Fav Project: TCD (10/10)
Least Fav: JIK (4/10)
Fav Track: Drive Slow
Least Fav: Drunk And Hot Girls
Kendrick Lamar - Behind DOOM, there’s the already legendary Compton MC, Kendrick Lamar. From his lyrical ability, his capacity of riding on any type of beat with ease and his transformation from each album, Kendrick is nothing but impressive to me.
He’s an one of a kind rapper that can pretty much do anything. I have no concerns with Kendrick, he fills out all of my boxes for a rapper, he’s enjoyable, he’s got the lyrics, and he knows when to go hard with the lyrics and when to just focus more on the flow.
Favorite Project: To Pimp A Butterfly (10/10)
Least Favorite Project: Overly Dedicated (6/10)
Favorite Track: FEAR./These Walls/Institutionalized/m.A.A.d City
Least Favorite Track: Michael Jordan
Dr. Dre - The doctor, producer and performer, creator of the “G Funk”, Dre’s production managed to amaze me on every album. He’s not too much of a rapper himself but he got classics.
Fav Project: The Chronic (10/10)
Least Fav: Compton (7/10)
Fav Track: Nuthin’ But a “G” Thang
Just one more thing, there’s no particular order on this thread but ranking them it’s:
1. Kendrick Lamar
2.Kanye
3.Dr. Dre
4. Big K.R.I.T
5. Chance The Rapper
6. Denzel Curry
7. J.I.D
