OK, all the freedom warriors, don't attack me (I will ignore such for reasons outlined herein) but I installed & activated the #COVIDSafe app. Yes, in my view it is "after the event mitigation", as by the time I am alerted to exposure, I may have already potentionally passed 1/n

2/n the virus on to others. We know this is highly contagious. Even so, I am nearly 65, I am on a clinical drug trial, I have a thyroid condition (under control currently). So I am just in the high risk group. My vital organs are all remarkably healthy, my BP is fine.

3/n At my age I'll admit I'm not overly worried if the govt of the day can track me to my death. And THAT is the cruncher here: at my age. If I was younger I'd be very concerned about that possibility. Very. But right now I have to make a call for my personal protection,

4/n as "after the event" as that may be. So I've decided I prefer to know if I've been exposed. While there are no treatments yet (several being trialled), at least I could be proactive about seeking help. So while I do have concerns about the whole thing, and have read

6/n I just want whatever protection available. I am also well aware it will do be no good at all if the govt fails to convince people the data is secure and the app will not be misused by people like Dutton - a very valid fear in my view. In that case it will be useless.

7/n We live in strange, new, different times. How do we use technology to our advantage without succumbing to the inherent disadvantages? This is the dilemma we are yet to solve, it seems.
