Hey, so there's some exciting stuff going on in the Sirlin Patreon right now if you're a fan of Yomi. This post goes into some details, and I want to highlight some stuff that's particularly intriguing and cool! http://www.sirlin.net/posts/help-us-fund-a-new-yomi-card-game
One of the big things that it doesn't mention, but is SUPER rad, is Patrons can actually play the Yomi-ish game via browser, using Tabletopia, without needing an existing Tabletopia account! So you don't even need to print-and-play to play the game right this second!
#1 The first thing my brain flipped out about was the name of the block card. High Block. HIGH BLOCK. We've got lows and overheads in this game??
#2 These cards aren't double-sided. How are you supposed to have enough options in your hand if each card only does one thing? The solution to this problem is one of my favourite bits of the new game, and also addresses a really common frustration with Yomi.
#3 "Your projectiles gain +1 level (to beat weaker projectiles)." Projectiles get special rules and interactions? Yes. Yes! The role that projectiles play in the game is really cool.
There are two other really big differences between this game and Yomi that haven't been shared or teased anywhere, so I can't say more, but… damn they're good. They're so good y'all. If you end up subbing (and I hope you do) please let me know if you want to play some games!
Honestly, if I wasn't doing well in IYL right now, I would probably drop out just to play more of this new game. It's that good.
