deep down i'll always love ohio but living here as a transplant is brutal because of this. cincinnati & ohio's problem is that most people here have always lived here & don't have many outside experiences, so everyone lives in a bubble & is fine with things being "just okay." https://twitter.com/CosaMostro/status/1254514312036614148
i honestly can't think of a single, important-on-a-large-scale thing that has happened in ohio over like the past four decades because this state is run like a mindless machine where the goal is to keep things running smoothly instead of actually trying to improve anything
on a large scale no one cares that the bus systems in all of our major cities have sucked for half a century, that segregation continues to splinter our communities, and that the poor continue to be gentrified out of their homes, because that has always been how things have been
my intention isn't to sound like some superior asshole just because i'm not originally from here, but man i'm just so glad i've had experiences elsewhere so that i know in my heart better things are truly possible
