Having taught for a while, I've had instances of students breaking down into tears in front of me.
Every time, it reminds me that everyone has a different experience & perspective — and just because I don't think something is a big deal, doesn't mean I'm right.

I am also reminded that for all the amazingness college can be, the pressures one person has to bear can be absolutely massive and complex: academic, social, parental, financial, mental, physical, the list goes on.
Not sure I have a point here (maybe it's just Sunday night Deep Thoughts™ with mgoldst) but just to remember that students are a hell of a lot more complex than what font they chose for that last project. There are layers of stuff we (faculty) have zero clue about.
Also: I really miss my students.
