It’s Good Shepherd Sunday, but in the last 50 years...
50% of the sheep wandered over a cliff, falling to their spiritual deaths.
90% of those who didn’t are wandering about aimlessly, no longer heeding the shepherds at best or following the wolves at worst.
The shepherds themselves are only hirelings, concerned more for power and money. They’d rather smell like sheep than lead them, and they’ve forgotten where they are supposed to be going anyway.
None of us are being fed now (at least not for the last 6 weeks), and our wool is overgrown and unkempt.
And here on Catholic Twitter we argue about how to best apply what the old shepherds had taught us while the wolves are circling all around us.
We need now, more than ever to reject the wolves, band together and turn to Jesus, The Good Shepherd, in prayer. That’s all we have, and despite these dark times, that’s all that we really need.
