Who else? Jake & Annaleigh will obviously be doing a duet from Sunday. Bernadette & Mandy normally do a duet from Sunday as well at Sondheim Birthday Concerts. Although maybe Patinkin does âFinishing the Hatâ & Bernadette gives us something from Follies or Night Music?
Cerveris & Lupone could give us a Sweeney number but Lupone will probably do Ladies Who Lunch because Company was supposed to be open now & itâs the 50th anniversary of Company.
So maybe NPH & Cerveris give us something from their Broadway production of Assassins? Otherwise NPHâs only big Sondheim role was the filmed NY Philharmonic Company, and...how many Bobbies can one concert sustain?
The poster only mentions Chip Zien (original Falsettos cast!!!) but Pattiâs Zoom screenshot has Joanna Gleason also, so that should mean a duet of âIt Takes Twoâ instead of Moments in the Woods. And Meryl means that weâll get her Into the Woods witch instead of Bernadetteâs.
Unless....unless Meryl is reprising her ensemble role from the original Yale University swimming pool production of The Frogs? Which seems doubtful.
Gemignani has been in so many Sondheimâs that itâs anyoneâs guess. Something from Road Show? Unworthy of Your Love from his Broadway Assassins role? He did Passion with Patti, Cerveris & Audra but if anyone does a number from Passion itâll be Donna Murphy.
Tveit was in a UK production of Assassins recently but Iâm not sure what other Sondheim heâs done. Uranowitz was supposed to be in John Doyleâs new Assassins revival that was meant to run this month and next. Hm.
Ann Harada & a bunch of her co-stars from John Doyleâs 2017 Off-Broadway Pacific Overtures revival are on the poster, so the most often overlooked of Imperial Phase Sondheim will still be getting its due.
Curious if we get West Side numbers in light of the Van Hove revival. Normally these tributes steer clear of the early career hit shows that Sondheim only did lyrics for - West Side, Gypsy, etc. Hell, we rarely even get anything from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Judy Kuhn, despite being a legend, has apparently only been in Passion, though? And Lea Salonga hasnât been in any prominent Broadway Sondheim productions so...idk. Maybe itâs a foolâs errand to try to predict what people will sing based on past roles.
I assume itâs a fairly safe bet that @BenSPLATT and @BeanieFeldstein will be doing something from Merrily, given their casting in a 20-year-long real time production of it.
If this tribute concert has more Merrily, Assassins, Passion & Pacific Overture representation compared to the typical âbiggest hitsâ Company / Sweeney / Sunday / Into the Woods & maybe Follies line up....I wouldnât be mad.
