If our politicians weren't utter morons, we'd already be setting up protocols for starting up public life again and training people on them.
Let's outline some:
Wearing Masks and gloves.
Both should be a requirement for being outside and should be provided as needed.
You can be outside by yourself without wearing the mask but you should have it for when interactions happen.
I'd offer them to those without and fine if not willing to wear.
Regular temperature checks.
I'd make businesses have no touch thermometers and test customers and employees for in store service.
(and yes this implies that we need proper medical leave legislation)
Random sampling everywhere combined with voluntary medical surveys pushed locally.
And make the numbers open source.
Tracing.
Look, we can trace your phone. Accept it.
If you test positive you should get a contact trace run on your phone and the option of notifying people.
Put this as part of your organ donor cards.
Isolation.
If you test positive or are suspected of being positive you should be able to go on disability for the duration.
As long as you isolate.
Delivery
We should subsidize any and all establishment of increased delivery options for businesses.
Post office? Subsidize. Food delivery? Subsidize.
The models have to shift to this and we should adjust.
If we do this? We should reduce infection rates by multiple orders of magnitude and be able to resume life.
The key will be monitoring and sampling because you'll have to lockdown areas that trigger alerts.
