In celebration of #AlienDay (April 26, in reference to LV-426 from the Alien franchise), here is a brief tweet thread looking at the most obvious (and some not-so-obvious!) Alien references in the Dragon Ball series. Did you catch all these? Are there even more?! Read on! (1/5)
Many fans see the connection between Freeza& #39;s third form and the standard Xenomorph design. Did you know that Toriyama used it before, though? And not just in Dragon Ball, but in Dragon Ball& #39;s two prototype works (Dragon Boy and The Adventure of Tongpoo)? https://www.kanzenshuu.com/manga/prototypes/">https://www.kanzenshuu.com/manga/pro...
The outfit that Bulma wears (or, rather, doesn& #39;t wear?) on the spaceship en route to Namek is probably a reference to Ellen Ripley& #39;s outfit near the end of the first Alien film.
An anime-only scene in Dragon Ball episode 36 has Sergeant Metallic scanning Son Goku to get this seemingly-prophetic result. Truth be told, Toriyama would not come up with the idea of aliens until Earth& #39;s God was introduced, a few arcs later. https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translations/daizenshuu-4-akira-toriyama-super-interview/">https://www.kanzenshuu.com/translati...
So what is this text, then?! Other than the "LOOK ALIENS" (which is the big hint), it& #39;s all filler text taken straight from a display terminal seen during Alien. This is commonplace in anime!
