Many people asked me why Pokémon Trainer is not a good WiFi character, so let me elaborate in this thread:

Overall the WiFi meta is dominated by most zoners, which Pokémon Trainer naturally struggles with. The answer to most zoners, or even a way to contest them is to play Squirtle, who is a fairly precise character and has many frameperfect strings and confirms. Sure you can say..

.. he can just mash his heart out without getting punished, but that playstyle will only bring you so far. Ivysaur is generally easier to play but is barely played due to bad matchups and even getting kills as him is harder than you think

Dthrow in the corner for kills is based on reaction because you actually have to react to their DI option, which is really hard to do so it turns into a guessing game. Also Dair against some recoveries is on reaction too, but not as bad to react to online.

Charizard is left and has obviously more room of error than Squirtle and Ivy, because he has the heavy factor but you shouldn't play him all the time because he is the guy who seals stocks/games. Also his strength, ledgetrapping, is nearly impossible because you

simply can't react to their option even if you position yourself perfectly. The saving grace is surely that Squirtle Ftilt is busted but if you are used to it you can tech it, even though it's hard. Kola apparently always teched it despite WiFi, so yeah lol

It feels very inconsistent to kill and it feels not very fun to play in this meta, where your answer for zoners gets cucked by the inability to properly play Squirtle. I am not saying PT is impossible to play online, it just doesn't feel fun to rely on FTilt

Ivy's Dthrow guessing game and the fact that Pokémon Switch is harder to react to. I know that everybody basically says his main is weaker on WiFi, but like I said, it's plainly not fun to play PT WiFi, and not worth it in my opinion, if you are playing for money

Forgot to mention that you shouldn't play Zard all the time because he barely has any good matchups lol, not only because his job is to seal stocks and games
