Ok I think I've come up with a solution to the football season - it's slightly more complex then what I've seen others suggest but i think it's workable and fair
End season awarding clubs their current positions (Liverpool awarded title). Where there is a minimal point gap between teams fighting for european spots/promotion/relegation and it is feasible based on clubs form prior to the pause these clubs should be put into a "playoff"
A good example is the 4th place champions league spot currently held by my own club but based on inconsistent form at times it is feasible that we could in fairness have failed to hit that spot and been overtaken by Man U/Wolves etc.
This is similar in the relegation spots - depending on the number of teams bunched together this could be done in a random draw of quarters-semis-final in quick succession (1-2 weeks) prior to the start of a new season.
I genuinely do not think it is feasible or safe to restart this season even behind closed doors at restricted locations - the staffing involved is ridiculous and given some squads have/have had reported coronavirus cases amongst players
I think the suggestion is being purely driven by profit much like other industries.

I genuinely can not think of any fairer way of doing this.
It's clear unilaterally ending season and awarding on current positions is not acceptable to some clubs owners (again likely being driven by financial packages for qualifying for Europe, promoted to premier league etc) and some will likely mount some semi quasi legal challenge
No matter how much we want it back on our tv's I don't want to see a game played until we can be almost certain we aren't going to end up hospitalising a player for our entertainment this isn't outside the realms of possibility this is a very real risk.
Considering how much this is being discussed I imagine there is many players privately contemplating refusing to return to their squads for competitive football if any of the current suggestions go ahead - I know I would be.
They are workers (albeit extremely well paid ones) just like the rest of us.

I don't like the idea of sending them back to work purely for my entertainment when there is substantial risks it doesn't sit well with my conscience.
It also sets an extremely bad example football is almost a state religion in the U.K. if we send them back to work very quickly everyone will be sent back to work as it will be the "well they are doing their jobs" discussion amongst employers.
This thread was longer then expected but that's my two pence on it.

Anyone that knows me knows I am probably beyond a fan and have a some type of serious addiction to football (I track individual player stats for Christ sake) if I can do without it, everyone can.
