From 2012-16, there were 19 RBs drafted in the first 2 rounds.

- 4 signed as 2nd contract with new team (1 cut before season of new deal)

- 2 were franchise tagged

- 5 played out rookie deal, signed elsewhere

- 8 were cut/traded after 3 or fewer seasons
But how does that compare to other 1st/2nd round picks?

I compared the career approximate value of those 19 RBs to the rest of the draft class from & #39;12-16

RBs: 24.5
All other 1st/2nd rounders: 26.1
Okay, things just got a bit interesting, though.

If we just pull Approximate Values from 2016-19 of 1st and 2nd round picks:

Non RBs: 12.1
RBs: 18.3
Is this a sign that there& #39;s a change coming in the NFL? After all, they say things are cyclical.

Or is this just further proof that RBs are great... when they& #39;re young. But most other positions have better long-term value?
