So, where do we take Swift? (a thread)

For the most part, people had Swift as their RB2 / 1.02 pre-draft.

It’s safe to say he isn’t that anymore. Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Jonathan Taylor are locked in in tier 1.
Let’s move Akers aside and behind Swift and Dobbins.

The Rams offensive line wasn’t addressed and has been the issue in LA. Yeah, Akers did well behind a poor o-line in college, but this is the big leagues. You can’t rely on out-athleting people anymore.
So, that leaves us at RB3 or RB4. Don’t make the mistake of moving Vaughn, Dillon, or Moss up here.

Let’s take Swift and Dobbins out of the situation. If you had to draft Detroit’s RB or Baltimore’s RB next year without any names, who would you take? Baltimore, easily.
The threat of Lamar Jackson opens up running lanes. His running ability makes all 11 guys on defense play slower. They have to do their 1/11th and play accountable football. It keeps the defense honest. They can’t overcommit.

Baltimore’s offense wins here easily.
Competition in the backfields.

Both Dobbins and Swift have competition at their landing spots.

One guy is competing with a 30 year old Mark Ingram. This is probably Ingram’s last year in Baltimore. He can be cut in ‘21 with little cap hit.
Swift will be competing with an injury prone young running back who’s shown flashes when healthy in Kerryon Johnson. Swift is definitely more talented in my eyes, but it’s not for me to decide. Draft capital would say they’re ready to move on.

Kerryon’s last year is ‘21 too
So, let’s say the competition argument is a wash.

I think you have to put Dobbins at RB3. I am putting him at 1.03, actually.

I would put Swift at RB4 then. I would put him at 1.04.

Give me these top 4 RBs before taking any of the wide receivers.
