It really is funny to me that there are loads of people who get up in arms when you state the objective fact that the US has committed equally as many if not more atrocities than many other dictatorial or authoritarian regimes and call it “whataboutism.”

Like, it’s one thing to sort of pull a “tankie” and divert all attention away from horrible atrocities in one nation and just hyperfocus on the US, but it’s not the same as stating, “yes, many nations are awful, but the US is also terrible a lot, let’s work to denounce ALL that.”

Like, if you think shit like the Tuskegee Experiment, Vietnam War, War on Terror, Guantanamo Bay, Rikers, lack of universal healthcare despite ability, Latin American regime change, colonialism, border concentration camps, etc aren’t horrid you’re a fucked person.
