12 minutes into a documentary on Suleiman I's harem and I'm laughing. The fantasy of men on the outside was naked women inside a closed palace, when modern historians have uncovered a different dynamic, equating the harem to a contemporary women's university in those times.
Now, what particularly amused me was the part about the handyman Queen Elizabeth sent and how he "happened" to gaze upon the many women in the harem dressed in see-through garments, and THAT reminded me of MTJ's bayaan.
Is that description that he gave on ntv just a product of male fantasy through generations? How deeply rooted is it in the islamic tradition? And more crudely, ye aadmiyon ki lust sadiyon se see-through kapron se hi wabasta kiun hai?
I will add to this thread as I watch and read more. So far however, I'm just amused with a capital A.
