I have this weekly Monday morning meeting with God. It's very formal-ish. I write my points down in the week leading to the meeting and we go through the agenda one by one. That's how I pray. 🙈🙈
Design your own relationship with God. Don't let anyone tension you into using prescribed formats. For instance, singing worship is basically useless to me. I prefer to toast God in writing or quiet contemplation. I'm an audiophile and a lot of worship music frankly irritates me.
God knows how to appeal to my head through his word. My best prayers are said while reading the Bible and stem from conviction over stuff he points out to me.
I rarely fast or tithe. I'm already very generous so don't need to calculate percentages with God. I have no problem hearing God. I can go whole weeks without an offering then give something very substantial. I deeply hate routine. I am intensely committed to relationship.
I don't use study guides. I simply read the Bible from cover to cover, over and over and then do a deep dive on what interests me.
Bottom line, if you have an independent brain, you'll forge your own path with God. If you are a new Christian, the routines may help you. I guess one must first learn to walk before you run. Basic popular Christian disciplines can help in that regard.
