Day 36 is International Seed Day so I thought I'd share some tips on seeds. My preferenced sources for seeds are 1. Seed I save 2. Irish organic seed 3. Seed from Irish grown plants. Some vegetables we eat are actually the seed such as peas and beans
Peas and beans are easily saved while others need to flower and go to seed before saving. Any seed produced by F1 plants will not be true-to-type and this would include most vegetables sold in super markets. Seeds from Irish grown plants including heritage
seeds produce plants used to our conditions. It's also important we consider seed sovernity which is crucial to food security.
Happy Sowing! #InternationalSeedDay
