humanoid fantasy races that have in-universe racial differences but whose societies are nevertheless similar to human ones that have existed in reality are always going to be a problem

if they're fundamentally different, they should have fundamentally different societies & ways of being. not like, 'similar to x human society but we gave them horns so you can't say it's racist.' show me something new & unusual!

also, for the easily offended: me calling this a 'problem' doesn't mean i think we should imprison or exile every author who uses these sorts of stereotypes. a problem can be examined, can be the basis for new art and stories
