CW: Sexual Assault
Quick reminder that about half of gamers are not men. Half of THOSE people and a few of the men are likely to have experienced sexual assault or harassment in some form. They& #39;re much more likely to be upset by it than other shit bc it happens CONSTANTLY. (2/X)
CW: sexual assault
Those people might be ok with baby sacrifice but not ok with rape. I& #39;m one of those people. I& #39;ve been raped repeatedly. I& #39;ve never seen a baby sacrificed. I know it happens, but it& #39;s not my lived experience. I don& #39;t want it in my fun time. (3/X)
Some people have been touched by murder. They might not be ok with murder in their games. This is why safety tools and session zero are so important! Also, no type of person is more likely to be violent than any other, and this brings up back to fantasy race tropes and orcs (4/X)
Evil races are a gross reminder of colonialist tropes, white man& #39;s burden, and other bullshit non-white people have died from. It& #39;s legit to not want them in your game. Yes, we know it& #39;s fiction, but that fiction is based in unpleasant reality. Games are political. (5/6)
Lastly, Scarred Lands is a universe that I think does orcs pretty well despite still having the racial bonuses inherent in 5e. I actually made an adventure about orc politics for it, if you& #39;re interested in another side of orcs. And puppies. Bonus: If marginalized people are saying "this makes me uncomfortable," and your response is to tell them to get over it bc it& #39;s fiction, or bc that& #39;s just how things are, take a moment and think about yourself. You are stanning the status quo and getting nothing for it. (End)
Extra bonus! Here& #39;s some cool alternatives to character creation that get around racial stats. The first is by @GabeJamesGames and I love this system. https://gabejamesgames.itch.io/cmm ">https://gabejamesgames.itch.io/cmm"...
