In 1996, the Tualatin River flooded. My dad called the Clinton White House in an attempt to get FEMA help for people living in affordable housing whose apartments had flooded. He didn& #39;t hear back, but a couple days later he got a call from @RonWyden& #39;s office.

He& #39;d been a senator I think for less than two weeks. The staffer said "I hear you& #39;re giving tours of the flood area." My dad said sure. He took @RonWyden to see the impacted area, esp. the affordable housing developments.

My mom always remembered how Sen. Wyden took his shoes off when he came in the house.
