ive been reading "trap door: trans cultural production and the politics of visibility" which is like a pretty dense historical text about trans representation and civil rights and it has an entire chapter about how trans newsletters in the 70s used to be way into the occult
they would say that trans people should be aligned with extra terrestrials, because in the ways that their bodies are depicted as othered and dangerous, so are those of trans people, and if aliens ever arrive on earth, queer people should ally with them if they're friendly
staring at these images and saying "hell yeah" with increasing frequency and volume
"you too can be a robot" damn right
i love this early rejection of "trans people are just like everyone else" mindset. "trans people are fucked up and weird and that's awesome, fuck you" instead.
anyway highly recommend this book, it has interviews with people like miss major and cece mcdonald and explicitly talks about racial capitalism and the failures of rich white liberal queerness.
remember that our routes are radical, anti-police, and anti-capitalist, and if you're a white liberal gay who isn't those things, know that you owe your privilege to walk down the street to people who were
