You know, I appreciate folks pushing back against the "Chapo is fine" and "violently brigading a woman who outs Proud Boys is good" talk, but qualifying it with "I don't know why she's so [x], but" is cowardly and unfeminist and bad solidarity.
You know exactly why I was so [x].

Anyone who knows anything about organizing knows that when your target is vulnerable and you've hit a nerve, you escalate and get them to strike back and show their true selves to everyone.
The way they struck back surprised even me.

The sheer volume of grossly obvious misogyny and ableism and violence is something I've never experienced before, Jesus Christ.

I expected them to push back, but I didn't expect to get Gamergated.
Frankly, if you haven't been the target of that shit before, you have zero right to judge me for standing my ground and reasserting my receipts over and over again to counter the tsunami of hateful defamation and mischaracterization of my arguments.
And also, this "oh she was so obsessive" shit you reinforce with these qualifiers is ableist bullshit.

When we came for the Philly Proud Boys, I was just as aggressive & did just as many mega-threads.

These "extra" critiques rn aren't about my tactic, they're about the target.
Folks love you when you're bringing down Nazis.

You're a freedom fighter and a rock star risking your life.

But fighting terror Nazis is goddamn emergency field surgery.
I don't want us to have to be field surgeons.

I don't want to be forever amputating limbs in tents because we don't have the nerve to ask where the terrorists blowing people up are coming from.
Niche internet celebs who platform/promote fash & normalize fash language/narratives create big, stagnant ponds of toxic trolls.

If we don't 1) notice 2) call put and 3) drain those pools, that's where the Nazis will lay their eggs.

That's where the next swarm will come from.
Quarantining those stagnant irony bro breeding grounds before the next alt-reich hatches isn't a distraction.

It isn't a waste of time.

It's just as much about saving lives as fighting the terror Nazis and white supremacist gangs.

It's preventative medicine.
Folks who follow antifascist organizing know full well that these tactics aren't new.

Y'all cheered for it when I was using them when the project was bringing down the Philly Proud Boys.
The real issue here is that the left has a problem with the glorification of macho adventurism.

We love the guts and glory and danger of Antifa street fights & Proud Boy gang menacing & Atomwaffen kill lists, but the minute we go hard on preventionn it's "extra" and "who cares."
It's why when I point out that a "leftist" is spouting literal Nazi propaganda and genocide incitement to an audience of 40,000 people, folks feel okay saying I've gone too far, not because I'm wrong but because he's branded himself as a war hero.
It's why when the actual women oppressed by the forces he fought are like, he's pushing us out of our own story and centering himself in media coverage of a women's freedom fight, it doesn't matter.

Because guts and glory, right?
It's why people who describe themselves as feminists can watch him show up in my mentions and sexually harass me and fat shame me and still say "how dare u, he's a hero" even as he's doing it.
Fuck that.

The left has a toxic masculinity problem.

It's willing to glorify men as long as they have enough blood on their hands, even if they're sending thousands of violent brigaders after women, even if they're sexually harassing them, even if they're saying "kill Jews."
The left fucking loves me when I'm doing long threads about Philly Proud Boys and relentlessly tweeting until they're outed and fired and desperate and shamed and doxxing me and coming to my home at night.

They love that tactic when there's the thrill of danger.
But the minute I say actually, I would like to be strategic for a minute and act preventatively-- the second the work is unglamorous, the second the work is unlikely to end with a bullet in my skull-- that's the moment that tactic is "obsessive" and "crazy."
Grow the fuck up.

If you like the macho thrill of Nazi punching but get annoyed when people bore you with the work of coming for fash enablers, you're not an antifascist.

You're an adventurist.
No, the Chapo hosts are not Nazis.

They do, however, platform antisemites, send people to Nazi-filled fanbases like Cumtown's, and "ironically" normalize fascist language and narratives to a point where their audiences can't tell the "ironic" talk from the real stuff.
They create an audience that things even undisguised antisemitism is fine as long as you through the word "Israel" in somewhere.
An audience who doesn't believe racism matters, an audience who believes anyone who wants to bring down "landlords" & "bankers" couldn't possibly be fash, because class is the only thing that matters & it's simply not possible that bad actors could use those words in a coded way.
You know it's true, because even if you don't follow me, you saw that audience pull that shit hundreds if not thousands of times in my replies over the past three days.

(Which is not my fault, btw. That's on Twitter, and on you for following the trolls who pulled that shit.)
That is a stagnant pool full of alienating young white men who are now primed to believe that Nazis in sheep's clothes talking about landlords and bankers and Israel couldn't POSSIBLY be anything but their comrades, couldn't possibly be recruiting them to violent fascism.
I hate field surgery, I do it because we have to, I would like to just not need to amputate legs with a saw in a battlefield because there are too many bleeding bodies and we have to make due.

It is not fun, it is not glamorous, it is traumatizing and ugly and tragic.
If you think antifascism only belongs in places that already have swastika flags hanging out the window, you're either hopelessly naive or just here for the gore.

Either way: grow the fuck up.

Stop acting like preventative medicine is a distraction.

You're part of the problem.
The fucking end.
