India : ~ 625,000 tests, 27,000 +ive

UK : ~ 670,000 tests, 153,000 +ive

Waiting for @bbc goats to write a piece on how India is testing less therefore lower number of cases..

Also @dhume 😎
India reports about 3000 homicides, 11,000 suicides, 12,000 road accident deaths, 25,000 personal hygiene related deaths....every MONTH !!

Because of emphasis on washing hands and lockdown... Drastic fall in all these deaths is expected..

And noticed
By the way after including Yesterday's data

India ~ 665,000 tests, ~28500 +ive, ~ 880 deaths

UK ~ 670,000 tests, ~153,000 +ive, ~ 21,000 deaths
After today India will likely cross Britain's test figures...
If it was "random sampling", ie the candidates to be tested were selected randomly (which neither UK nor India are doing btw), then a sample of same size would be far more representative for UK on account smaller population

India's testing protocol👇

Death registration can be used... Compliance for death registration is much higher than birth registration... Especially for elderly (insurance claims, property claims, bank account closures)

Since majority of deaths would belong to elderly it can be useful surveillance tool. https://twitter.com/Terex93556797/status/1254739793507827715
There is a lag in death registration however... https://twitter.com/Terex93556797/status/1254739793507827715
