Today I did the #runforinclusion as part of #teamkunken for @kulturec. It was a choose your fighter kind of situation - some people ran or walked a 5k or 10k at home or in their yard. I ran the Capitol Mall as my weekly long run. 100 minutes. #StayHomeRunWalkMove
I started from home and ran to the Capitol but I don’t have a picture bc I was on Zoom with everyone else as we worked to break the world record for people running online at the same time. I stopped at the Smithsonian Castle bc science matters.
I ran to the Washington Monument. It’s very tall. It was raining this whole time and the pictures reflect that. Plus I was running and tried to only stop briefly. #teamkunken @kulturec
World War II Monument. Current home DC, heart home MN. I reflected on the true sacrifices people made at that time and I think I understand it just a wee bit more given what’s going on. #teamkunken @kulturec
You might be able to tell that it was not crowded. I was easily 8-15 feet away from anyone at any time, and usually there was no one around.
I ran those steps. I recited the Gettysburg Address (as I always do) and while we have never met the promise of “government of the people, by the people, for the people” I do think that’s a worthy goal to strive for. Especially now. #teamkunken @kulturec
You cannot see their names without seeing yourself in their sacrifice, more poignant because the cause was so suspect. Their devotion is not suspect, however. I have a cousin I never met on that wall. #teamkunken @kulturec
There is a tranquil park and one can almost imagine that the world is not in turmoil. I guess that’s the point. #teamkunken @kulturec
A paean to resilience and strength in the face of inhumanity. #teamkunken @kulturec
I made it back to the Capitol and I sent good vibes. God knows they need them. #teamkunken @kulturec
