[chapter 391: the irony of who needs memories]

i think it's interesting how atsumu claims that he doesn't need memories, that there's no such thing as the past in volleyball.

that all he needs are within that one single moment--his muscles. he gets an amazing serve in.
but the chapter chooses to start with a flashback of him complaining to osamu on how his practices weren't working well.

atsumu forgets: his muscles are a product of his past, which was illustrated in osamu's conversation with atsumu.

he worked his ass off to have that moment.
and the chapter ends with rice farmer kita being the supplier for onigiri miya--
it's a full circle:
what you eat allows you to have fuel for practice.
someone in the past worked hard to create your food.

your muscles are a product of the food you consume, which a person spent time on.
kita basically continues his role as the backbone of the miya twins; is hammered further by the fact that he is still someone heisuke, a v.league one server respects and thinks about.

who needs memories?

oh, atsumu. the past impacts the present very much.
in any case, i think furudate wrote this chapter in a very lovely way.

stan furudate. stan haikyuu.
