The Propeller Group

Detroit art collective founded in the late 1980’s by three talented automotive design students at the College for Creative Studies. The “propeller” represented the group’s penchant for working with discarded industrial objects.
Taru Lahti spent most of his career working as a designer at Ford, where he designed the 1992 Ghia Focus concept car. He also designs functional lighting and furniture pieces that often use scrap metal and reclaimed wood.
Camilo Pardo became a very successful auto designer, best known for his design of the original Ford GT concept. He still designs furniture pieces in addition to his career designing automobiles.
Michael McGillis creates site-scale installations that explore human interventions in the landscape, combining natural and industrial materials.
I’m not gonna pretend I know anything about sculpture but these Michael McGillis site installations are pretty sweet imo
