This case may strike some as especially surprising given that the perp is over 55 and a drug user. But, of course, many drug offenders are also violent criminals, and while one’s proclivity to reoffend goes down with age, the risk doesn’t come close to zeroing out. 2/3
I wonder what the reaction would be to a suggestion—one I’m not endorsing, to be clear—that those making such release decisions should have a personal financial stake in the outcome through the establishment of legal liability to victims for crimes committed post-release... 3/3
