Moths glorious moths! I had 18 species in my garden moth trap yesterday morning. They were a joy to behold, the best way to start the day. This utterly gorgeously fresh Pebble Prominent was one of the many stars. I& #39;m not sure I& #39;ve ever seen one looking so pristine. @BritishMoths
There were several mimics in the trap, the best was the master twig mimic, the amazing Buff-tip. Again, this one was incredibly fresh and stunning to see. They always bring a smile to my face. @SomersetWT
Another superb twig mimic was this bizarre Pale Prominent. It has mastered the art of looking like a piece of dead wood. What an amazing outline it has, all jagged! @BCSomerset
From twig/wood mimics to bird poo mimics! Behold the tiny but magnificent Chinese Character. Another moth that never fails to make me smile.
Finally, I had a Lychnis moth. This species used to emerge at the start of May but due to climate change it now emerges in early April. Thanks to the amazing Moth Atlas I can now learn these interesting bits of information about the species I catch. @savebutterflies
