In Ep 1 of Money Matters with @SharmaShradha, @kunalb11 mentioned something curious:

"States that have very low per capita income have the highest instances of people applying for government exams and status-driven roles"

I've looked at other search terms vs GDP/capita

THREAD/
I armed myself with GDP/Capita from Wikipedia and Google Trends State-wise Search Proportion Data of few terms such as UPSC, Railway Recruitment, Coaching Classes, Learn Online, How To, Why etc

Here are some interesting correlations and graphs from this analysis
As the GDP/Capita Increases, the searches for "UPSC Syllabus" tend to go downwards.

However, The topmost dots [States who searched "UPSC Syllabus" the most] are:
- Arunachal Pradesh (15th best GDP/Capita)
- Jharkhand (25th best GDP/Capita)
- Uttarakhand (7th best GDP/Capita)
UPSC clearly is more popular than Railways throughout the country. Very weak correlation with the GDP/Capita though
States with high per capita income search for "learn" over "coaching"

GDP/Capita explains 41% of the variation in the state-wise search results for "learn"

"How to" also shows a weak correlation

I found this to be pretty cool 😍
Caveats:

- I haven't factored in the population of the states when using the search data

- Google Trends data might is not the best source to use if you want to derive any meaningful conclusions

- Correlation isn't causation
