I'm still thinking about #SaveStudentNewsrooms Day. So many journalists I admire were formed by the magic that is a student newspaper.

A threadđź“°:
I’ve always loved @pamelacolloff's story about how she got her start:

And @elisaslow was looking for a job. Luckily, the @dailyorange was hiring:

And the great @gingerthomp1 found journalism through her student paper. So much of what she says here resonates with me:

That same student newspaper, @purdueexponent, also gave us @bykenarmstrong!

And I'm so lucky to work for @adamplayford, who "caught the bug" at his high school paper.

And @ryangabrielson worked at my student newspaper, @dailywildcat. One of his articles was framed above my desk at the paper. I wasn’t taking journalism classes, but I read Ryan’s work. Eventually I sent him an email and found a mentor and a friend.

I love these stories. There are so so many of them! I didn’t have plans to be a journalist. The @dailywildcat changed everything. I loved (and still love) being part of a long tradition and I want that tradition to continue for other students.
