Here’s the deal, folks. @realDonaldTrump, enabled by a sycophantic Senate and judges, is going to try to steal the election or postpone it indefinitely.

The @gop knows that the political fall out is too great at this point for Trump to win a free and fair election. The polls in battleground states and the favorability ratings of republicans show this. GOP is now afraid the Senate will flip.

They have used this crisis to consolidate as much wealth and power as possible. PPP loans going to big biz. Insane tax cuts in the CARES act (2nd tax break for the rich in 3 yrs). $500B slush fund for corps with very little oversight. Bill Barr trying time suspend habeus corpus

. @senatemajldr telling blue states to go bankrupt. Federal gov diverting COVID resources away from blue states. No real strategy for the pandemic but urging folks to go back to work already even if people die. Cruel immigration policy. Look at all these things together.

Then on top of that, they are trying to bankrupt USPS and strongly opposing vote by mail in an election year where we may all have to vote by mail.

These policies, a Depression, mass deaths, and the president’s narcissism and carelessness have created a political crisis they likely can’t come back from. But I think they think that if they can consolidate enough power, they can figure out a way to steal the election.

Let it not be lost that Trump is heavily indebted to Russia and Russian oligarchs have used Trump properties for money laundering. The Kremlin is still devoting resources to re-electing Trump. In Russia, Putin makes a big show about elections but these are a sham.

In Russia, they hold elections. But they are for show. Given Trump’s well documented and extensive ties to Russia, and the obvious efforts to consolidate power and endanger democracy, make it clear that it is very possible that the US will take a page from Russia’s playbook.

Congress must act now. The writing is on the wall. #25A or some other measures are necessary - and now before we watch democracy slowly go down the drain.
