crystals are a necessary item to have when practicing divination, or even just for a pick-me-up. choosing a crystal is like choosing a puppy; make sure it connects with you before using. don't rush the process of getting crystals, and let it go if it doesn't connect.
there are hundreds of crystals out there, but today i'll be focusing on four types: cleansing, grounding, intuition, and protection from bad energy. after i list them, i'll list ways to cleanse your crystals, program and activate them.
SELENITE
this is the one stone you NEED in your collection. it cleanses + charges itself, and can cleanse + charge your other crystals without depleting its own energy. selenite is wonderful for motivation and clarity, and amplifies your other crystals' abilities.

HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR CRYSTALS (1/3)
- salt bath (min 7 hours) or running water (1min per stone). check to make sure your stones are waterproof before you do this.
- quartz or selenite (24 hours). these crystals can cleanse your crystals themselves and charge them back up.

- the moon, preferably the full moon (overnight). they'll come back good as new!
- sunlight (10-12 hours). don't leave it out for too long, though, or your stone will fade and cloud.

- sage/incense (30-60 seconds per stone). waft your stones over your incense smoke to drag out the dark stuff and cleanse them.
- visualization (1 min per stone). if you're a fan of meditation, you can clear the negative energy yourself, like a chakra cleansing for your stone.

HOW TO PROGRAM YOUR CRYSTAL (1/2)
1. hold the stone in your hand during meditation, or lay down and place it on a chakra that you want the crystal to help with.
2. envision its energy merging with your own. verbally or mentally ask for its assistance and give it a job to do.

3. when you've reached this (and this can take time and practice, depending on the crystal), thank it for its time and spend a few minutes meditating on your own.
HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR CRYSTAL (1/2)
- speak to your stone. normally, i say "i activate this stone". this will "turn it on".
- you can use a crystal grid to do this as well. involving clear quartz, selenite, and other charging crystals can help activate another stone.

- take it outside! natural energy can help activate a stone and give it a little boost.
cleanse your crystals once a month, or when they feel heavy (stones like black tourmaline, which are sponges, may require more cleansing more often). care for them like they're your kids, and they'll help you cleanse, protect, and ground yourself on your path.
i'll be creating a google sheets for common crystals that are included in this thread and ones i find, but this is just the basics. i hope this helped you guys!
