Convinced that so many articulate students tend to write in such an imprecise & ambiguous way - where it takes interpretative effort to decipher connection between one sentence and the next - because they think this is what academic writing looks like. And who can blame them.

So my most centrist opinion appears to be that I pretty much share George Orwell's views on clear writing. Stop hedging your points around with bollocks. Be precise.
