"How Being Woke Changed My Life"

A thread
I have learned a lot about political terms and political principles and concepts through the recent years and I am always amazed everytime someone educates me about such matters.
I am from the healthcare field and even though I loved my undergraduate course (Pharmacy), politics never failed to fascinate me. I am thankful for my friends who taught them to me. You know who you are. 💗
It amazes me how politics can shape the world but, given that, it also means that if the wrong people are there, it can greatly affect societal sectors and the lives of its constituents (even the apolitical ones).
That's when I started realizing that people say a lot of stupid things when it comes to election times. Seeing those blind loyalists and fanatics makes it hard for me to love my country (more of a personal struggle).
But an the end of the day, I cannot completely blame some of the people who vote for bad leaders. I came from the province and a lot of the families there aren't aware about how the system works or how these politicians can ruin this country.
I saw people who are not participating in the elections because none of the candidate are giving them money. Some even vote for the candidate with the highest money given (as if the next 3 years will be covered by that amount). The practice of 'witik' is very common and supported
And some of them actually do these things because that's how it is for a long time. 😞
Sadly, people view politics more as titles rather than it being public service undermining our democracy.
Personality politics is common in this country and most people, sadly, are not well-educated to be aware of such things and the terrible consequences that can follow.
Then reality stands that most of them will only care about how they can earn money to provide basic needs for their loved ones AND THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT
Because it all goes back, however, to how the system failed us and how corruption and power play are being practiced more beside the substandard performance. The current pandemic (COVID-19) proved how incompetent our administration is. How basic education failed in a lot of ppl.
It saddens me how there are a lot of hard working people below the poverty line who stay there because the system failed them. And on the other side, I also see anti-poor statements from insensitive individuals. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Given the statements mentioned above, being aware about how your country is being ran will help you save it.
After this pandemic, we should not go back to normal. Rather, we should establish a new norm where we become better citizens of this country. Let's vote better this #HALALAN2022 . 🇵🇭
End of thread. 😊
I apologize for the length of this thread, I just wanna air this out. I don't expect a lot of likes, I just need to rant this one out. If you read it this far, thank you. 💕
