Happy SunDays-Have-No-Meaning-Anymore! I would like to share a story with you that includes me, @Postable, quarantine holiday cards, and a wild game of russian roulette!
Last week I made cards to send to people to hopefully give them a little smile. It was holiday themed and included my patented absurdist humor as well as some genuine hugs and kisses. I did this through @postable, my regular card sending company.
On Monday, 4/20, I got an email telling me that the cards had been sent! Oh joy! Hooray! I was already hoping this series of cards would be a great success, as the front of the card had this image on it:
On Friday, I got a text from a friend:
"1. Thank you for the card I love mail
2. What the heck is on the front?"
She included this picture of the front of the card:

After about 30 minutes of shocked fury and panic, but normally absurdist sense of humor kicked in and I started laughing so hard (from the same friend "You all look amazing at your engineering conference"). I checked in with a few other folks, and they had the right front.
Caitlin and I then came up with this explanation: someone in this group had sent everyone from the conference a fun card, and somehow their order got mixed up with ours. There were 9 people in the picture, so we assumed that there would be 8 engineering conferences in my batch.
We ALSO determined that this meant there were 8 engineers somewhere in the world who were going to get a random picture of my bare-assed pizza box kid in their mail with LITERALLY NO EXPLANATION. Thus began the game of @postable russian roulette.
I shared this information on my instagram stories and anxiously awaited hearing from others about the card they received. I also emailed @Postable to let them know and maybe see if they could figure out who ended up with the wrong cards. I went to bed giggling.
Early yesterday afternoon, I got this email from Taylor frmo @postable. Poor Taylor. If only they knew just about how wild this story was going to get.
Throughout the day, I heard from people getting and opening their cards with "aw man! I got the right one!!" Everyone was desperate to get the engineers. I can& #39;t blame them - they looked like they were having a great time! Then at 5pm I got a message from a friend...
"Hi!! We got your lovely holiday card! I think Postable might have messed up a little

I laughed so fucking hard, and immediately shared this to my instagram. Recognizing that stories disappears after 24 hours, I also made a special highlight about this amazing new quarantine tv show.
Then I went onto Facebook, which I hadn& #39;t been on for about a day, and found that another friend had posted this to my wall about 4 hours earlier:
"Haven& #39;t seen you in a while but you look....different."
"Haven& #39;t seen you in a while but you look....different."
And I was suddenly hit with this incredible realization: since there& #39;s no consistency with the incorrect cards, I have no idea how many were printed wrong and who& #39;s gonna get a mistake.
I SENT 200 CARDS.
I SENT 200 CARDS.
Also, DOES THIS MEAN AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF STRANGERS HAS RECEIVED THE PICTURE OF MY NAKED PIZZA SPAWN!?!??!?!
I laughed so hard I cried.
I laughed so hard I cried.
I emailed poor Taylor from @Postable to let them know the situation, and to assure them that I am not upset, in fact it has provided endless entertainment for my friends and family, and I haven& #39;t laughed so hard in a long time.
I immediately set to hunting down the people from the pictures. I& #39;m still working on it, but I have found the engineers in the picture. They are @AaronWeakley, @thd_l, @JoeSmeltzTHD, @bails_thd, @kunalkthd, @apalmerTHD, and I think @paullarkinhd. Welcome to this thread, folks.
I am asking here and now, did any of you get my half naked pizza kid in the mail recently? Because it& #39;s nice to meet you!!!!!
Next is the parents of the newborn. I assume they could use a laugh since having a newborn during lockdown is NOT an easy thing. The couple is a little harder since there& #39;s no identifying information other than their faces. If you recognize them, let me know!
I will continue to update this as new developments arise. I do home this isn& #39;t the end, because there are so many new friends to make in the world.
Also, thank you thank you thank you @Postable for inadvertently causing such absurd joy in our currently weird world.

I know for a business this is a huge fucking nightmare, but of everyone it could have happened to, I& #39;m so glad it was me. I will cherish this memory forever.
UPDATE: JUST GOT ANOTHER CARD MIX UP.
