since when has being a feminist been specifically reserved for females only? has the definition changed or something like am i MISSING something here

-ism suffix: used to form action nouns from verbs; denotes the action or practice of principles, ideas etc

-ist suffix: corresponds to nouns ending in -ism; denotes a PERSON who practices, supports or is concerned with the related principles, ideas etc

feminism: the advocacy towards economic, political and social equality of sexes

so wouldn't a feminist be a /person/ who supports feminism. like. ??
