I wanted authentic stories that children of African AND Afro-Caribbean heritage in the diaspora could relate to & read in their mother tongues so I wrote a book:

“There’s Rice At Home” 🍚 ➡️🏠

Available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Waterstones & them man!

#TheresRiceAtHome
A lot of the Yoruba books that are accessible in the diaspora are translations of stories written by white authors. So I decided to write an original story #TheresRiceAtHome in my love language first! #IresiWaNile

Nobody will understand just how much I love that initiatives like OkwuID exist. So thank you @SerChidera for the translation and @kelechi_tg & @BEN__BEN_ for your help on this version #TheresRiceAtHome!

One thing I love about the Ghanaian diaspora is that their children can actually speak the language. But they should have authentic stories to read in their language too! Shout out to @Comanda_x @PaulinaNkansah @PrincessAnna90

Originally I didn’t want it in English. But @dbcxptures reminded me that there are still Black children out here who don’t speak or understand their native languages and I would never want to exclude them. It’s their story too! #TheresRiceAtHome

When I said children of African AND Afro-Caribbean heritage I meant it! Thanks @ashindestad for the patois translation!

I wanted it to be authentic to West Indians so I hope you guys like the little additions we made to this version 😂

I know Patois isn’t the only West Indian language in these diaspora streets so having @Kweyol_nou do the Dominican Kwéyòl version has been great!

Thank you so much!

I’ve filmed for NGOs & production houses, written for (inter)national publications & digital platforms. But these books mean the WORLD to me because our languages are important.

This is a passion project before anything & one that I hope will impact our communities in more ways than this, very soon (God willing)! So until then I hope you and your loved ones enjoy it!
