On the #OTTCity #UrbanBoundary, I want to be clear about something. We are all on the same page about preserving agricultural lands. The longer we pretend they are in play, the longer we mislead the public that it is a real debate. 1/4
This is an opportunity to have a proper discussion about growth in our city. It’s an opportunity to shed light on intensification and how it will impact every Ward in this city. 2/4
We need to accommodate growth in the inner urban area , the outer urban area, the suburban area and in villages. We need to prepare all of these communities for the growth that is to come. That growth is coming. 3/4
If we allow this particular debate to get derailed by the myth that AG lands are at risk, it will be a lost opportunity to better define what intensification is and means.

In short, the real urban boundary conversation is NOT about agricultural lands. 4/4
